Vipassana Retreat

September 1-8, 2023

7 Night Retreat
with

Joan Staubach

Vipassana means insight — insights into the true nature of yourself and the way things are. This retreat is suitable for a first 7 day retreat and for advanced practitioners.  The first days of the retreat we will be settling in and concentrating the mind.  On the next days you will be taught insight practices to try out for yourself.  Throughout the retreat there will be emphasis on kindness.  This retreat will be held in Noble Silence, with periodic interviews with the teacher.

Joan Staubach is an active member and past president of Tri-State Dharma. She is an experienced practitioner of Insight Meditation. She has been on over 30 week-long or longer residential retreats. She has taught and co-taught the New Years Retreat for many years, led daylong retreats, and taught numerous Insight Meditation classes. She has taken training retreats with Matthew Flickstein on Sharing the Dharma.

It is Tri-State Dharma’s mission to make retreats available to meditators from Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and beyond. To make these retreats affordable to all who wish to attend, the fees for each retreat are slightly less than the minimum amount needed to cover our expenses. This does not take into account the scholarships that we give for almost all retreats. If you are in a position to do so, please consider making a donation to Tri-State Dharma at the end of the retreat to help us continue this work. Thank you.

Tri-State Dharma is revising its cancellation policy and refund schedule, adjusting to the circumstance of living with the Covid-19 virus.  All cancellations will have a service fee of $30.  Cancellations within the last 3 weeks before the start of a retreat will forfeit the deposit unless the cancellation is medical in nature (Please, if you are ill we do not want you to come to the retreat!).  Any payments beyond the deposit will be refunded.

The cost of the retreat covers room and board and Tri-State Dharma’s expenses. Meditation teachers in this tradition are able to continue their work through Dana, or generous, voluntary giving by students. At retreat’s end, students have an opportunity to practice Dana by offering contributions. There is no specific contribution amount expected; give what feels right.   Please think of this as an integral part of practice.

To request a scholarship please Click Here to send an e-mail to Tri-State Dharma. No one will be turned away for lack of ability to pay.
